A year and change later, and I’m still obsessed with this smoothing shampoo and conditioner for my fine, flyaway-prone hair. I used them both recently after a weeklong beach vacation, and they made my hair look so healthy and shiny again, you’d never know I’d spent hours in chlorine. That’s because these are two of those rare in-shower products that really do what they say — and make my hair look noticeably different. They help it dry smooth and shiny, so much so that I can skip my usual leave-in conditioner or de-frizzer.
I can get away with air-drying because these help prevent that puffy air-dried texture and the frizz and flyaways I normally get when I skip heat styling. And on days when I blow-dry, this shampoo and conditioner help make my hair so smooth and sleek that I actually couldn’t get one of my favorite dry texturizers to work — I sprayed and sprayed but my hair would not take on a wave. I can’t say I minded all that much, though, since the shampoo and conditioner had made my hair so crazy shiny.
I also love what the shampoo and conditioner don’t do. One: They don’t leave my hair noticeably scented — which just feels more sophisticated than the usual flowery or fruity shampoo fragrance — even though the shampoo has a warm-citrusy scent in the shower. (The conditioner also has a little bit of a warm scent, but it’s not as noticeable as the shampoo’s when you’re washing your hair.) And two: They manage to smooth my fine hair without weighing it down at all. That’s especially impressive given that the formulas are powered by so many hydrating, shine-boosting ingredients: Argan, boabab, and marula oils, and moisturizing ceramides extracted from yuzu fruit. Even better, the shampoo and conditioner are vegan and cruelty-free, and the formulas — which meet Allure‘s Clean Standard — don’t contain parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.
